Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 190°C.
- Melt butter in a 24cm oven-safe pan over medium heat. Add sugar and cook without stirring until a deep amber caramel forms, about 8–10 minutes.
- Arrange apple halves tightly in the caramel, cut-side up. Cook on the stovetop for 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Lay puff pastry over the apples, tucking edges down around them.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until pastry is golden and puffed.
- Cool for 10 minutes, then place a plate over the pan and flip quickly.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
