Ageing skin faces three key challenges: oxidative stress, water loss and collagen breakdown. Clove’s eugenol tackles free radicals; rice peptides soften fine lines and brighten; baby oil’s mineral-oil base prevents overnight dehydration. Swapping beeswax for coconut oil keeps the formula naturally thick yet spreadable, while vitamin E, aloe-vera gel and rose water add soothing, collagen-supporting, anti-inflammatory benefits. Together they create a powerhouse night cream that’s gentle, economical and fully customisable. Anatomy
Ingredients Required
(Makes about 50 g; adjust ratios for a lighter lotion or a firmer balm)
2 tbsp baby oil – occlusive mineral-oil base that locks in hydration
1 ½ tbsp extra-fine rice powder (or rice starch) – boosts firmness, brightens and lightly thickens
1 tsp whole cloves, lightly crushed – antioxidant, antimicrobial, wrinkle-fighting spice
1 tsp vitamin E oil (≈ 2 soft-gel capsules) – free-radical scavenger and barrier booster
1 tbsp pure aloe-vera gel – soothes, hydrates and supports collagen renewal Flora& Fauna
1 tbsp rose water – tones, calms and adds a delicate scent
1 tsp virgin coconut oil – thickener; rich in lauric acid for extra emollience
½ tsp shea butter – supplies oleic & stearic acids for deep moisturisation
Optional: 10 drops concentrated green-tea extract – extra polyphenol protection
Procedure
Infuse the baby oil
Pour baby oil into a heat-safe beaker and warm it in a hot-water bath (≈ 50 °C).
Add crushed cloves; maintain gentle heat for 20 minutes to release eugenol.
Strain the oil through a fine mesh or coffee filter to remove clove fragments.
Melt & blend the lipids
In a separate beaker, melt coconut oil and shea butter together over the same water bath until just clear.
Stir in the clove-infused baby oil; whisk until completely mixed, then remove from heat.
Cool-down phase
Allow the blend to cool to about 40 °C (warm but comfortable to touch).
Gradually whisk in rice powder to avoid clumps. Ricebased cosmetics
